Abstract. Intends to verify the presence of investigative jornalism in the newspaper Jornal do Tocantins. Analyses the specialized and current literature related to the origin, characteristics, phases and perspectives about the subject. Its method is content analysis of the articles, intentionally selected, to identify, classify and prove the presence of the investigative gender in the object of study. Develops drawings and methodological tools, in order to help in the process of identification and collection of data, as well as the critical and analytical description of the object. It concludes that Jornal do Tocantins has evidences of investigative jornalism.
